For three generations, the White family has been involved in the real estate industry.  In 1917, Joseph H. White founded the White Company, a real estate development company, in St. Louis, Missouri.  Thomas J. White Sr. became president of the White Company in 1950, and continued to carry out his father’s vision.  Under Tom Sr.’s direction, some major Missouri developments were erected.  Among them were the first industrial park in Missouri, the first enclosed shopping mall in the Midwest, the first mixed-use development in the St. Louis region, the Westroads Park of Commerce in West Palm Beach, Bermuda High North, Bermuda High South, and the Thomas J. White Stadium in Port St. Lucie, just to name a few.  Tom Sr. was instrumental in bringing the New York Mets to Florida, as well as partnering with Callaway Cattle to become the first privately owned companies to fund and develop an Interstate-95 interchange. 

In 1989, Thomas J. White, Jr. became CEO, heading the St. Lucie West Development Company and continuing to operate all of the properties owned by the White Company.  And in 1994, he opened Thomas J. White Realty.  By 1998, Tom White had purchased the franchise that created Coldwell Banker Thomas J. White Realty, and expanded its service area to all of St. Lucie County.  Since then, two of St. Lucie West’s landmark buildings have been developed by the brokerage:  the Coldwell Banker Thomas J. White Realty building and the Clock Tower Plaza.
